External threats to pollinators

It is agreed that due to our use of resourses, farming practices and climate change there are many external threats to efficient pollination of our crops and wild plant stocks.

Honey bees are one of over 200 pollinators in the UK but are important in many respects, not just for the beeswax and honey that they contribute.

You do not need to keep bees to help them.  Plant for nectar supplies (simple single flowers) the year round, don’t be too tidy in the garden etc.

Beekeepers are managing the paracites, viruses and bacteria that currently threaten bees but new challenges are on the horizon including invasion of non-native species small hive bettle and Asian Hornet.
